Dan Schlimm

If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. My work with mid-size and high-growth enterprises focuses on developing and executing short and long-term business strategies that meet stakeholder objectives.

I work with business owners and management teams to understand the profitability of their company, product lines, customers and channels and translate that knowledge into strategies which focus on the following:

  • Maximizing Profits & Minimizing Risks
  • Managing Cash & Working Capital
  • Improving Operating Efficiency
  • Developing IT Systems and Infrastructure
  • Streamlining Critical Processes
  • Adopting Best Practices
  • Identifying Key Performance Indicators
  • Mentoring and Developing Personnel

I have over 25 years of experience in accounting, leadership, and consulting with public and private, high-growth companies. My work extends across a range of industries with a focus on global manufacturers and distributors of complex capital equipment and medical devices.

As a senior-level financial executive, I have personally led or delivered the following:

  • The successful turnaround of a $50M privately held international manufacturer and distributor, including substantial organizational and infrastructure improvements, replacing key management, new ERP systems and new credit facilities
  • The successful turnaround of a $40M privately held food processor, including divesting of non-performing assets, restructuring operations, reducing costs, and managing bank relationships
  • Led the budgeting, forecasting and sales planning for a $2B publicly held equipment manufacturer and distributor with 15+ separate business units and 30+ product brands
  • Merged the Sales Operations and processes of 6 different companies totaling $800M in sales
  • Consulted on the valuation, sale and/or purchase of multiple businesses with sales from $1 million to $20 million
  • Led the evaluation, selection and implementation of multiple ERP systems and complex IT development projects

I am a firm believer in big data IT solutions with an eye for adopting technology that promotes communication and innovation at a pace required by the company’s strategic plans. My approach to every engagement is to bring a sense of urgency while respecting the unique values of the shareholders, customers, vendors and employees. I’m devoted to my personal values of persistence, logic, humor, discretion, transparency, accomplishment and last, but not least, honesty.

I joined the Florida CFO Group in 2019 with over 25 years of financial experience and a demonstrated ability to lead finance teams through reorganizations, turnaround situations, M&A activity, system implementations, process improvement and cultural change. I earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (accounting) from Pennsylvania State University and was a CPA (license currently inactive). I also served as a Guardian Ad Litem: a court-appointed advocate for abused children.

Professional experience: Mergers & Acquisitions, Budgets, Strategy, Strategic Planning, Analysis, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Process Improvement, Forecasting, Finance, and Operations Management.
